Its portfolio encompasses diverse space brands, including the luxury resort sanctuary HOSHINOYA, the refined hot spring ryokan KAI, and the urban exploration hub OMO. Among these, KAI is deeply rooted in local terroir, advocating a subtle, relaxed dwelling posture that guides travelers to deconstruct and reweave the spiritual fabric of regional culture through an immersive lens.

Marking the brand’s debut in Hiroshima, the new KAI Miyajima extends this site-specific philosophy to the shores of the Seto Inland Sea. Unlike traditional properties situated directly on the sacred soil of Miyajima, KAI Miyajima deliberately steps back to the mainland shore of Miyajimaguchi. This spatial recession creates a profound relationship of "borrowed scenery" (Shakkei) and reciprocal views across the water.

Through expansive, frameless picture windows, the architecture framing the tranquil waters of the Seto Inland Sea, the silhouettes of Itsukushima Shrine, and its iconic floating Torii gate. The shift of coastal mist, light, and tide throughout the day is seamlessly drawn indoors, transforming the interior spaces into an active frame for the sacred landscape beyond.
「界宫岛」不处的严岛神社
酒店设计灵感源自海上飘渺的雾气，空间被命名为“海雾之间”，并点缀以当地传统工艺元素，为住客打造一段可深度感受濑户内海自然风光与人文底蕴的独特居停体验。
Inspired by the ethereal sea mist drifting across the water, the space is named "Among the Sea Mist" (Kaimu no Aida). Accentuated with traditional local craftsmanship, it offers guests a distinctive dwelling experience that immerses them deeply in the natural beauty and rich cultural heritage of the Seto Inland Sea.
在室内空间的构成上，设计团队追求极致的触觉体验。全馆地面铺设连绵不绝的高密度榻榻米，消解了传统酒店中大堂、走廊与客房之间的硬性边界。赤足漫步其间，脚下的肌理赋予身体一种柔和且放松的仪式感。
In configuring the interior environment, the design emphasizes tactile architecture. A continuous floor of fine-weave tatami mats spans the entire property, dissolving rigid boundaries between lobby, corridors, and private suites. Walking barefoot across the continuous surface invokes an immediate, grounded sensory relaxation.

酒店顶层的温泉大浴场是空间叙事的高潮。南侧露天汤池采用无边际视线设计，泉水边缘与濑户内海的海平面相接，使沐浴者仿佛悬浮于海天之间；北侧室内汤池则透过高窗将连绵的山林绿意引入空间内部，形成一阴一阳、一动一静的对立统一。
The bathhouse on the top floor serves as the spatial crescendo. The southern open-air baths feature an infinity-edge configuration where the thermal waters merge directly into the horizon of the Seto Inland Sea. In contrast, the northern indoor baths look out toward lush mountain slope vegetation, establishing a balance between open aquatic expanses and enclosed natural greenery.
更具建筑历史考古价值的是对镰仓时代“石蒸浴”的当代复刻。濑户内海地区因传统温泉水温较低，自古演化出利用热石与草药辐射热的蒸浴形式。设计团队研究了当地近80处古法石蒸遗迹，以当代极简主义的石材构筑与光影控制，重现了这一近乎失传的水疗形式。幽暗的空间内，温热的石材肌理与草药香气交织，带来沉浸式的身心疗愈。
A profound architectural highlight is the revival of the historic Kamakura-era "Stone Sauna" (Ishi-mushi). Historically, due to lower thermal spring temperatures along the Inland Sea, local communities developed radiant-heat saunas utilizing heated stones and medicinal herbs. Synthesizing research from nearly 80 historical sauna sites in the region, the architecture team has reinterpreted this thermal tradition into a sleek, dark stone sanctuary. Soft, indirect lighting and heated natural stone surfaces offer a deeply meditative wellness experience.

Dancers perform the "Shirabyōshi"—aical dance form associated with the historical traditions of Itsukushima Shrine. The haunting melodies of court music echoing through the minimalist architecture bring centuries of cultural heritage into vivid, living focus.
