Magic coach Jamahl Mosley worked alongside Shammgod when he was a Mavericks assistant; Shammgod is regarded in Dallas as one of the key behind-the-scenes figures who has helped Irving establish such a comfort level in Dallas since the Mavericks acquired him from Brooklyn in February 2023.
