Pare ca na vijānanti mayam ettha yamāmase;ye ca tattha vijānanti, tato sammanti medhagā.《法句经》Dhammapada 第一 双品（Yamaka）There are those who do not realize that one day we all must die. But those who do realize this settle their quarrels.（trans by Acharya Buddharakkhita） 有些人不明白“我们都要死的”。如果人们明白“我们都要死的”，那么争执就会平息。

类似的意思，奥略留《沉思录》中也说过。 或者中国人听不懂这种话，或者佛经的译者觉得中国人听不懂这种话，于是（吴）维祇难等译《法句经》第九双要品译为：“不好責彼，務自省身。如有知此，永滅無患。”
