[After the Fireworks Fade, We Bend Down to Preserve the Beauty]

During the U.S. 250th Anniversary celebrations, the parades were lively, and the next day, the confetti on the streets was just as spectacular—while others watched the fireworks, we picked up the “fireworks.”

Early in the morning, I took to the streets with hundreds of volunteers to clean up. A few hours later, the streets were transformed, and the sense of fulfillment and peace I felt—to be honest—was even more satisfying than watching the fireworks.

I’ve been volunteering for many years, and I’ve never done it for any other reason than to experience that moment of inner peace when I bend down to pick something up. This kind of joy is something you have to experience to understand; I sincerely recommend that everyone give it a try if they have the chance—you’re helping the environment, but you’re healing yourself.

Having lived and worked here for many years, most of the people I’ve encountered have been kind and warm. Happy 250th birthday to this land! May the friendship between the people of China and the United States be as brilliant and enduring as last night’s fireworks.
