Shinjiro Koizumi , a regular visitor to Yasukuni shrine, paid his respects on Saturday, Aug. 15, the 81st anniversary of Japans surrender during the final days of World War II, Kyodo News and other media reported. Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi was planning to skip a visit and made an offering instead, according to the news agency.
