In the summer of 1955, Pablo Picasso paints in front of the cameras of Henri-Georges Clouzot and Claude Renoir, grandson of the famous painter.

A year later, the artist assembles six figures of Bathers from pieces of scrap wood. The painting on display in this room, completed in two stages between 1956 and 1957, revisits this traditional painting theme.
It dates from a pivotal year in 20th-century art, marked by the deaths of Jackson Pollock and Marie Laurencin and the rise of Richard Hamilton's Pop Art. It brings together all the elements of earlier modern painting and heralds what is to come.
