Splice 是本周《经济学人》（2025年11月15日刊）标题为“How the exasperating, indispensable BBC must change”一文中出现的一个单词：

从这个概念出发， splice 后来便被用来拓展泛指“胶接、粘接、拼接”电线、胶片、磁带、基因片段等。比如：

由于结婚就像是男女双方绞接在一起组建新家庭，于是在英式口语中也常用 get spliced 这个习语喻指“结婚”，往往带有一种轻松、幽默或戏谑的语气。比如：

他们恋爱多年后，终于在上周末喜结连理。They finally got spliced last weekend after years of dating.

用作名词时， splice 相应表示“绞接处、胶接处、粘接处、拼接处”。比如：

一个不牢固的接头导致电缆在压力下断裂了。A weak splice caused the cable to break under pressure.
