As a bearer of FAW Toyota's hopes in the EV era, the bZ5 is a collaboration between FAW Toyota, Toyota, and BYD. Built on Toyota's e-TNGA pure electric platform, it incorporates BYD's blade battery and other EV components, resulting in the bZ3 and bZ5.
The bZ5 debuted as a concept car at the 2023 Shanghai Auto Show. From its low-key launch event to its starting price of RMB 129,800, the bZ5 failed to deliver surprises—it's a typical Toyota-style electric smart car through and through.
